Hi,

I have a dvd (my own material, not copyrighted) and I want to take some
chunks of the film at certain points (not necessarily chapter stops) and
make them into separate files, so that I can upload & share them on my own
website.

I'm not too fussed about the format, but something that plays well inside a
web page would be preferable. I would be quite happy with .MOV, .AVI or
..WMV. Also I heard that .FLV is quite popular. Ideally I would like to be
able to choose basic options like the height/width, sound/pic quality, etc.

My question is simply this: "What (free?) software should I use, and where
do I download it from please?"
