Hmmm. Let's see:
LG combo player: $1199
PS3 (20 GB) $ 499
PS3 remote $ 25
XBox360 Core System $ 299
XBox360 HD-DVD Player $ 199

Sounds like the PS3+XBox360 route is better. Costs less, and gives more
than just movie playback.
(I've seen Toshiba's HD-DVD player for $300, so PS3 + Toshiba HD-DVD
player would be even cheaper).
