Hi all,
I am an absolute newbie to the trade (used to work in IT but recently
converted to "TV for web" stuff). I have a question regarding the
possibility to read timescodes from SDI:
I am currently using a Sony Betacam SP machine and an Adobe Premiere
software to encode analog tapes into AVI and subsequently transcode the
AVI's to whatever digital format I want. I am hoping to replace the
Beta Machine by an SDI input so that the SDI signal can be captured
automatically at preset hours of the day. This would save me the manual
handling of prerecorded tapes and could potentially be use for a live
broadcast on the web...
The problem is that I need timecodes and it seems taht only betacam
machines allow a digital capture that conforms to the timecodes. Is
there a way timecode information can be embedded and read from an SDI
signal so that the video card and software performing the A-to-D
conversion can read the timecodes?
Any help would be appreciated.
Amine
