You don't seem to know much about how consumer electronic
manufacturing businesses operate.
I would suggest looking at historical models like, Beta / VHS or
Windows / OS/2
Intel / AMD
Many others.
Nothing got "foisted" on you. Not on you in particular, since you
said that you are not even participating. D'oh!
