Iain,
I have little knowledge of AV and my experience is confined to switching on
a TV and recording on a VCR that was just over 15 years old when it packed
up last weekend. After a bit of internet research and a quick look at this
NG I bought a DVR-440HX-S on Tuesday from Comets for 239. I am still
getting to grips with it and I am only about a quarter of the way through
the 151 page instruction book. All in English but I think it will be a long
while before I know half of it.
The quality of the Freeview and the recording on LP is superb. I do not
think it is possible to set it up to receive both analogue and digital and I
have connected up the aerial for digital Freeview reception. To my surprise
it works perfectly, as reception was supposed to be doubtful in this area,
and we have NTL cable.
I have tried the 'Pause Live TV' button and it does not work. A signal
appears saying 'Cannot complete this action now' I do not know why and have
not yet bothered to investigate as I am still trying to learn to record
properly on the HDD.
