The limiting factor is DVD. You won't do any better than the
720x480/576 limit.
I'd ask the client if they want a 16x9 or 4x3 DVD to project onto the
screen. I guess if you have more 16x9 material you'd be better off with
that as you have much less aspect ratio conversion (resizing) to do on
the timeline.
If you have a lot of graphics I would set up a 4:2:2 SD project rather
than a straight DV (4:1:1 or 4:2:0) project so maximum quality is
retained by the graphics ensuring a high quality transfer to DVD.
Of course this depends on your editing system, how big the gig is etc etc.
