i speak for outback australia - vegas. for metropolitan, i would guess
whichever software suits them / budget. i really don't think there's
much point in discussing which is best without knowing what the project
you have in mind is. all of them will happily handle cut to cut (as
will imovie and movie maker), however, if you're looking to create
sophisticated tvc's, then you should be looking at quantel, discreet,
or very high end avid.
it's horses for courses, with of course those with investment in any
particular horse, barracking loudly for it.
