Sorry, Ted, but I collected more than my share of laserdiscs back in
the day, and I've never felt like DVD was "forced" on me. If there's a
clear and tangible benefit to a new format, then that fact is not
affected by the way it's marketed. It's either good, or it's not. DVD
was clearly the former, which is why I got on board, and I don't resent
or regret it for an instant.
