I second for the 5960. I picked one up at Target a couple weeks ago
for $80. In addition to standard DVD, it plays SVCD very well, as well
as .mpg and Divx/Xvid and mp3 off of DVD-R and USB thumbdrives. The
only thing that sucks about it is no S-Video jack (WTF?). NBD, though
in this case since it just loops through my Panasonic DVD recorder,
which does an excellent job of pulling apart Y and C.
