Actually, at the annual convention, which occurred at the same time as
the CES, they revealed that they were going with HD-DVD only because
Blu-Ray doesn't want to be associated with the industry.

The major studios had all announced they were going with Blu-Ray but
then the majority of the companies involved in the Blu-Ray
"consortium" threatened to pull support of the format if porn jumped
on board.

Pretty funny, if you ask me...

While I don't think porn by itself can make or break the formats, it's
gotta be a pretty big contributor to success.
