You could make a cogent argument either way.

I'd feel "safe/justified" by agreeing to dub with the provision
that I would destroy the VHS copy. At least then you could
argue that you weren't making aditional copies, but "merely"
transcoding to a different medium. But I likely don't have as
much to lose as you do.

I'd also bet that Ptravel would disagree, but that's his job. :-)
