This about one of the most stupid posts i've read in a while. Please
note that Sony is only 1 of several STAND-ALONE blu-ray player
manufacturers. The others include samsung, panasonic, philips...
HD-DVD players and titles came out of the gate earlier than Blu-ray,
and the main argument by Hd-DVD supprters was that HD-DVD would win
handily in player sales because (1) there were more hd-dvd titles; (2)
Toshiba was basically losing money on every Hd-dvd player it sold at
about HALF the price of the competing blu-ray players from samsung,
philips, panasonic etc.
And yet, we now have numbers that show that the much higher prices
(and the late start of blu-ray) did not seem to bother sales of stand-
alone blu-ray players at all in 2006!
I would say that's really bad news for hd-dvd, especially now when blu-
ray is starting to overwhelm hd-dvd in terms of numbers of title
releases AND total players (because of the PS3)
It's pretty much all the way downhill for hd-dvd from now on....
