You might consider substituting the NEC burner from the same Newegg source:

A total of 1220 people gave the NEC the best 5 star review, and many
newsgroup people on other newsgroups have experienced media incompatibility
issues with the Sony. I have half a dozen burners here and the NECs are my
favorite, way better than the Sony IMHO. They also cost less.
