Michelle's posts are missing the "Content-type" metadata which tells the
newsreader what character set was used. With that absent, it's pretty
much left to chance whether or not any given newsreader will properly
display any non-ASCII characters she posts.
What do you expect Thunderbird to be - clairvoyant?!
