Just out of curiousity, what exactly would you make of this? Would you
say the word "stolen" is not the right word, in the vernacular or any
other usage?

This is a "bizarre" usage of the word "stolen"?
And it is interesting to me that this situation might not be illegal at
all. Or is it? Or should it be? I believe-- but I'm just a layman--
that it would hinge on the form of "expression". But if it's not
illegal, it is still, to my mind, something other than coincidence.
