My former partner in my camera was a sh!thead who preferred using the
camera to edit than learning to use his G5 with a 23" screen. Needless
to say, this put massive amount of hours on the camera. The camera
started having sound dropouts. My repair tech (does broadcast
equipment for the local tv stations) said that it was possible that
the heads were starting to show wear from the abuse they were getting.
He said sound will start dropping before video. Also he said DV covers
up drop outs in video better than sound.
Anyway, I replaced the heads. $700 later, it seems ok.
