Or even just switching to more honest middle men. That's what seems to
be happening, with a lot of small labels, some of them set up by the
artists themselves. And DRM just isn't an issue for most of them. They
see file-sharing as free advertising. With a different business model
there is no need to sell millions of copies to pass break-even. Without
the bunch of hangers-on there is no need to bill musicians 250,000 for
studio time, or 5 figures for the launch party, or all the other
bullshit. Who do you think owns those studios anyway? It's a scam. A way
to cover up the fact that virtually all the money they take off
musicians goes into their pockets.
