I was told by an independent broadcast level repair facility that the
best tapes to use in a Sony camera are......no surprise, Sony tapes.
With that said, one should acknowledge that around here, Seattle, by
far the most popular tapes with professionals are Panasonic. And
that's regardless of camera. The preference is so great that I have a
hard time getting Sony Excellence from the local tape house.
I think the choice for Panasonic tapes is not really supported by any
facts. There was a tape salesman that used to post here; he promised
facts to support his championing of Panasonic tapes but never
furnished any.
I use Excellence or better in my Sony camera.
