LOL - the 1:1 speed was too good to be true.
 I let the 1.5hr tape run to completion, knowing that
 it would be short by ~ 10 minutes, just to see what
 would happen.  The tape moved at normal speed, and
 the light on the DVD burner blinked like it was writing
 the video DVD data just fine - which it was.  The thing
 that I did not realize was that while the tape was moving
 at 1:1 speed, the DVD was only writing at a fraction of
 tape speed.  So when the tape completed, the DVD still
 had a LARGE buffer of tape data to process and write
 to the DVD.  However, my notes show that it is still faster
 than most other methods that I have tried. Guess the overlap
 processing while the tape is being captured makes the
 overall difference.
