Suggestion: go to the store with your own SD card, & if they let you,
record on it - both indoors and out if possible - and take it back home
to look at it at your leisure and with other stuff of your own to
compare it to.

I own an earlier model of the Sanyo. I found its video satisfactory
(not superb!), but I found the camera hard to use. The menus were a bit
confusing to me, and the odd shape made it hard for me to aim it
easily.

I have taken videos with a Casio minicamera that also takes mpeg-4
video. I found its video a bit better (surprisingly good, but still not
superb), and I found it easier to handle.

It goes without saying that YYMV (said he, saying it anyway).

Before pushing the send button, I thought a bit about better words to
describe the video quality of the two cameras. I decided on "adequate"
and "surprisingly adequate", respectively :-)
