Your sweeping statements don't check with my experience. My head was
just replaced by the scientists at the Sony factory repair facility in
New Jersey. I had to send it back to them once to do a proper head/tape
alignment so it would even play tapes that were recorded when the camera
was new. Tapes recorded on the thin 80 minute tapes, or recorded at LP,
are very shaky on the tracking, especially with the sound dropouts.
We're tempted to get some Firestores to bypass the mini DV tape.
