Compatible? With what? It can surf, email, produce Office compatible
documents, run Java apps, play 3d online games, even run a vast array
of Windows applications using virtualisation, and there is nearly
always an app in the Linux community that does whatever you want,
usually available for nothing.
Ubuntu installs quicker and easier than Windows 2000 (which wont even
install an AC97 compatible embedded soundcard from the standard disc).
You really ought to try it before slagging it. It's clear that you
haven't or you wouldn't have made such an uniformed statement
