Given how much improvement 2 GB provides over 1 GB, seems likely.

I've edited on as little as 20 GB, and as much as half a terrabyte. Disk
space needs depend on the size of the projects and how many projects you
want to store on hard drive(s) at one time. 250 GB is a nice number.
Remmber that 2 hours of DVD video is about 4.5 GB, and you need at least 3
times the size of the largest file times the number of variations you think
you will build.

What's the source of the video?
I do well transferring video to DVD-RWs with a stand-alone DVD recorder, and
then ripping the DVDs with APE2.
