Average user buys new PC.
Takes it out of box, and turns it on.
Wants to connect to internet, puts in orange cd or aol cd or bt cd. Doesnt
work, 'average user' calls bt/aol/orange and asks for a linux disk or
instructions, told they dont support linux.
Average user gives up on the internet, and decides to install printer
instead, gets their new epson/hp/canon printer out of the box, and gets the
cd out, puts in, but no joy. Phones up the support line,, told they dont
support linux, but they can get linux drivers off the website. Average user
explains they cant download printer drivers, because they dont have internet
access.
And it goes on.
Only two series of mainstream operating systems exist that are easy to use
for average user, OSX and Windows series.
Linux is so far behind either of them, that really it is quite laughable.
Its not as if they are a little bit behind, and its a tight race, it isnt
even as if they are in a seperate division playing football, its more like
the rest of the world is playing world cup football, and linux is top of the
County pingpong league.
