Um, Halo did that on the original Xbox in 2001, and there are several
titles that do it on the 360. Have you played Motorstorm? It takes 5 to
10 seconds just to load each new vehicle model in the selection screen!
And the race load times themselves are very much on the long side.

The speed defeciencies of the PS3's BD-ROM drive have been well
documented. You can argue a lot of strengths about the PS3, but disc
data transfer speeds are not one of them. Hence Bethesda's decision to
duplicate chunks of Oblivion's data on the disc.

Again, this is just one game you're talking about. Resistance (and
Motorstorm, at least from a visual standpont) show what the PS3 can do,
but as a gaming machine it is currently a piss poor choice. Emphasis on
the currently.

It sounds like you're having some unique troubles. Media Center works
fine on my machine, tho often I just use the 360's inbuilt ability to
browse networked computers to play music in game soundtracks and whatnot.

And the PS3? Can't stream networked media, can't remember my prefered
way of viewing my media files (every time I go into the music menu I
have to reset the view to artists instead of albums, can't even start
playing a song and keep it playing after you back out of the music menu
on the XMB!!

Did you say you played music off your iPod on the PS3? Last time I tried
that it didn't work. Maybe they added iPod support via an update. I will
definitely give it a try today.

The Xbox 360 may not be a perfect media player, but its leagues beyond
what the PS3 can do. I guess basic media player fucntions are too much
to ask of the mighty "Cell Broadband Engine."

Why is the majority of your collecttion in MP4?? Why not MP3 or WMA?

I've played an early build of Lair and I was unimpressed. Besides
Heavenly Sword, what else is coming out of the so-called floodgates in
June? And what's coming out that's going to suddenly make the PS3 a
fully functional media player?
