In FCP there is the oft overlooked Apple Intermediate Codec which does
an excellent job. It is a shame the codec is only 4:2:0 but Cineform is
coming to the Mac later this year which will solve that deficiency.
But I still don't know what is disappointing the original poster???
I've done some down conversions to SD that look simply stunning. But I
am not prejudiced against HDV so I make sure it is done right.
