I had a similar problem occur with my ES46S. Seemed to occur after one
of the two following occurances: 1) I got a big static shock pushing one
of the buttons or 2) after I was trying to reset the device to respond
to #2 remote control signals (when you have two Panasonic appliances).
Panasonic was going to send me a new remote control (wrong solution, in
my opinion) but I decided simply to return the unit and exchange it for
a new one. New one works fine.
