By which FZ means look at the emitter end of the remote through an LCD
viewfinder while pressing the controls on the remote. The flash is
quite visible :-)
One easy way is to rotate the viewfinder panel so you can see it from
the front of the camera, turn the camera on, and look at the panel
while you aim the remote at it and push some buttons. If you can't do
that, a judiciously placed mirror is helpful (unless it doesn't reflect
infrared light).
I like the idea of disassembling the unit and cleaning the contacts,
but it's not everyone's cup of tea. It seems odd that a control only a
few months old would have that problem, though.
