Try http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/
It will probably tell you which write speeds are supported by your Lite-On
model burner with a particular brand of disc. If it says 4x burning is
supported, then there's a problem with the Nero software. But maybe you just
need to try a different brand/kind of disc.
Or you might bite the bullet and learn how to use something like ImgBurn,
and forget about Nero. ImgBurn will burn best for a maximum number of
standalone DVD players, particularly on DL discs. Here's a fairly good

Possible also, check for a firmware update for your burner model. Looks like
the latest for your model is from Sept'06.
