"provides improved performance and additional storage
but no fault tolerance from disk errors or disk failure. Any
disk failure destroys the array, and is twice as likely to fail."

Unless you are doing HD video, "improved performance"
is of no benefit that I can percieve. Any modern hard drive
is more than fast enough to keep up with DV video.
It creates no "additional storage" above what two separate
drives would provide. And in many cases you are better off
with two separate (if smaller) drives than a single larger drive.
Particularly for rendering and other operations where data is
beinng processed from a source file to a destination file. I see
better performance when I can put the two files on separate
physical drives.
OTOH, "twice as likely to fail" is a big negative indicator to
me. YMMV.

No, but I fail to see why that is relevant. If you are looking
specifically for Canopus Editus users, you should likely look
for some forum dedicated to that application. This newsgroup
is a collection of users of all the different NLE systems.

I agree with Mr. Kujbida. Use the larger case because it
will be more flexible, and will likely run cooler.
