Boba,

The HDR-SR1 uses AVCHD format, a new and poorly supported format for
editing. Suggest you look at either Sony HC7 or Canon HV20, both using HDV
format which is very well supported and has higher quality HD video.

You can distribute HD on normal DVD-Rs using HD-DVD format to record up to
46 minutes on a double layer 9 GB disk or 23 minutes on a single layer 4.7
GB DVD-R. You do not need expensive BluRay burners, expensive BluRay disks,
or expensive BluRay authoring software. In the U.S. the HD DVD player
(Toshiba) and HD DVD software are $380 (Toshiba player is $300 and software
is $80).
