OK, so my own update:
I purchased a DVD player cleaning disc. Seems to have done the job for the
most part. I still cannot get a copy of "Running With Scissors" (Sony DVD)
to run on this player. Works on all other (newer PC's and DVD players in my
home)
I purchased a new Sony DVP-NS71HP at Costco today due to the good reviews it
(and its twin the DVP-NS75H) have gotten.
Question now is will this new Sony with an HDMI cable give me a noticeably
better picture than my old Toshiba? Using a Sharp Aquos 37" 720P LCD TV.
