I second that. I picked up the Velbon 607 at Fry's yesterday for $80
and it is a huge improvement over the typical consumer tripod (c. $30)
I had been using that has a pronounced ratchet-like effect while
panning. The tripod was a pleasure to use for recording a theatrical
performance. Thanks to GeekBoy for the recommendation.
