I cannot really compare because I haven't used FCP or Avid, but I've
been using Vegas 7 and am pleasantly surprised how good it's been. It
just works well and I haven't even really noticed the step-up in data
stream crunch from DV to HDV (granted I'm also using a new and better
system.)
If Vegas hadn't been working well I would have sought out another
program by now.
