I'm not sure how bearshare works to be honest, but I suspect it uses a
common "shared" directory of files which can be found by anyone by
simply searching for it. This will basically let them figure out who
you are in a single search, and is a Bad Thing (TM)
uTorrent doesn't worry me quite as much, but if you look at the
PeerGuardian site, and perhaps over at bluetack.co.uk (whose
blocklists PG uses) there is a lot of debate whether uTorrent should
be blocked altogether as they signed an agreement with a media company
about 12 months ago, so may have undisclosed motives that might allow
you to be traced.
