If you must keep below $100 then I would suggest you look at a new KLH
stereo receiver and a pair of used Bose 201 speakers from ebay. That
should be about $50 for the receiver and $20 to $40 for the speakers
less shipping.
Obviously, there are better receivers and speakers but this combo is
one of the best unknown bargains out there for simple stereo sound.
I use this combo for my computer speakers and they can really light up
the 14'x14' bedroom I use for a home office.
