Speculation time is over, I did get an official answer from Sanyo:

So my suspicion was founded: The HD2 does _not_ have a 60fps recording feature,
while the HD1 has.
(And no, the recording was always progressive, no "fields" or "half frames" due
to interlacing involved)
Such a pity - no more slow-motion effects...
