I have compared the recent release with the original version and I was
very unimpressed. My friend bought it, watched on his relatively posh
system, and was disappointed, he then lent it to me. We were both
expecting a subtantial visual improvement.

Not sure, I didn't think so but I don't do HD yet.

Sorry, its not aimed at you. :) I just love the film - have waited
repeatedly for a decent quality release and have been repeatedly
disappointed.
>At least it's not LOTR or Star Wars with a new version every six months!
Well, I'm happy with LoTR, I bought the 4 disk box sets of each, and I'm
sorted.
But as I say, One Decent Quality Release of Blade Runner and I'll be
Happy. Unfortunately it looks rather like there'll be a multiple disk box
set, with a quality price but no quality product.
All the best,
