I think Criterion's "RoboCop" sucks. The picture is letterboxed instead of
anamorphic and the audio is feeble even by DD 2.0 standards. I've had a
budget VHS copy from Woolworths which played better though it wasn't the
director's cut.
Also had the Fassbinder trilogy with pompous, irelevant political commentary
and interview with worn out old bag of an actress nobody cares about.
Even their seminal version of "Forbidden Planet"" has now been overtaken by
the Warner Bros Special Edition though the deleted footage on Criterion's
laserdisc is better quality.
Jean Renoir's "Can-Can" is good though seriously lacking in extras and not
available separately.
