Just to keep this current, the day after I posted the above list, Nero
AG announced that their Nero 7 Ultra Edition Enhanced product would
include AVCHD support. It's a free downloadable update for current
Nero 7 users. For new Nero users, it's either U.S. $79.99 as a
download or U.S. $99.99 in boxed form.
Here are some links for anyone who's interested.

So, including the two Pinnacle products and the two Ulead products
that I originally listed above, adding in Nero makes a total of five
currently available "relatively cheap" AVCHD editing packages.
And if Adobe adds AVCHD support to Premiere Elements, and if Apple
adds support to iMovie, and if Sony adds support to Vegas Movie
Studio+DVD Platinum Edition, that would make a total of eight
products, and there may still be others of which I am not aware.
