Mike. Wow! This is the best news I've yet heard on this matter yet!
That deck seems like the PERFECT solution to what I need. I could
find somewhere to rent it (I saw a place that offers $450 a week), and
then I'd be able to digitize all the material myself at my own
leisure.
The question remains, though... once I've got it on the computer,
digitzed in DV50 form or whatever form, what is the best way to get it
into a form that is compatible with a 1080i 60 HDV timeline? Can this
be handled within Vegas? Even though ~$500 is well within my budget
to get this footage, I still don't want to pay that and then have
material that looks like crap because I didn't do a "machine
conversion". (Are machine conversions that much better?)
Mike, I am gonna register with the Vegas board and talk to that farss
guy. If I can get my hands on one of these J-30s I think my project
is saved!
