Jeez, this is NOT a job that you need to get a computer involved with.
Just buy/borrow/rent any recent standalone DVD recorder.
I use a Phillips, but the brand is of no consequence.
Hit "RECORD" on it while you play back the video in real time from the
camera.
If you want chapters every "n" minutes, most DVD recorders are happy to
comply.
And the better ones will be all to happy to give you lovely little
screen of chapter thumbnails at the end.
While it's converting the odd video formats to standard MPEG2 and buring
them to DVD's use your computer to do something useful.
