For someone not familiar with the series, these "best of" collections
were definitely confusing. In one ep, Chris would be living with his
parents, in the next he would be living with Brian Doyle Murray. But
at least they did hit some of the best episodes. "Girlfriend 2000"
still cracks me up. And "The Prettiest Day of My Life" is a classic
(though again, confusing because Brian Doyle Murray plays a completely
different character in that one).
The main problem with the Rhino discs was the HORRID video quality.
They looked little better than VHS releases (they must have ported
them over without even going back to the master copies).
It's a shame these never got the treatment they deserved. Get a Life
was one of the best of Fox's early shows (along with "Married With
Children," "The Simpsons," and "The Ben Stiller Show"). It's a great
reminder of a time when Fox was truly bold, before they started
vacillating between reality sleaze and mainstream network crap.
