I've never heard of M$ having the ability to remove or restrict the
installation of drivers on XP, but if you can come up with some
sources i'd be interested.
The only "restriction" I know of is the way manufacturers and / or M$
conspire to remove existing functionality from printer drivers to
encourage sales of new hardware (a recent example on a Dell(?) group
was for the removal of the duplex facility from the DJ870C in the XP
drivers, as against the Win9x driver)
