Yes, that's what I've been seeing with Sony and Canon.

Thanks for the tip about CamcorderInfo.com. I just checked the site
very quickly and it looks like Panasonic may have something that I'm
looking for (i.e. relatively small and unobtrusive yet with some iris/
shutter speed controls that allow one to look through the view finder,
make the adjustments and then record. I've had a tough time with one
of my small Sony consumer cameras in brightly outdoor situations in
trying to adjust exposure with the stinking touch screen which doesn't
allow you to see what's going on through the view finder because it is
disabled until the flip out screen is shut. It is too time consuming
to make various adjustments with the flip out screen open, shut it and
check the results through the view finder and have to do this
repeatedly when time is limited.
