Most locally released DVD's are modified to local censorship (if any) and
commercial needs - often in Australia (region 4) we will get a release of a
US movie that has been modified compared to the US release sometimes a non
anamorphic release etc. or UK release. European movies released in Oz are
nearly always complete whereas the same Region 1 release in the US may have
cuts to get a lower rating. So content can be changed even the audio options
made available. Another example is the range of subtitles supplied varies
from country to country. Reauthoring nearly always takes place locally by
the local copyright owners. In your example Casino Royale the local
distributor would have received a digital video tape of the whole package
and locally the content would be re-authored for local release. This is a
site discussing differences in releases.
