I've seen the U.S. HDTV cable version of this series -
incredible. And, from what I understand, that's only half as
good as BR or HDDVD. I also happen to have the BBC series on
DVD - still mind-blowing, though the sharp edges and 3D-ness of
many shots are not there, once you've seen it in HD.
My upscaling DVD player is a PC which outputs 1080p to a 42"
1080p monitor attached via DVI. I've had an OPPO, this is
better. If I'd not seen the series in HD, it would be among
the, or the very, best of all the digital video I've seen. Yet,
once HD enters the contest there is no contest.
When the dust settles on the foolish media battle, this series
will be the first thing I purchase for my new player - whatever
it may be;-0)
