new Oppo 981 player vs. new Toshiba HD-D2 player?
www.oppodigital.com shows 981 at $229,
and local Costco currently offers
a $100 special on HD-D2 at $250
fwiw i'd kinda like to have a SACD player
(Oppo), just to try it once (more if i like)
short of that, which player offers more
real long run dollar value (i.e. cheaper
DVD movie disks), general overall satisfaction
value, vs. supposed high end (video/audio)
performance?
TVMIA (Thanks Very Much In Advance :) )
any suggestions on on-line vendors to buy the
Oppo from are also VMA (Very Much Appreciated),
otherwise i'll get the Toshiba HD-D2 from Costco
btw, i just made up TVMIA and VMA, so don't go
off the wall using them on the web. :)
the www.prillaman.net/oppo971_review.html
review provides some relative info even tho
it's on the 971 and is a year old
one other issue is sound. namely is Dolby
Digital High Def sound (found on the new HD
disks (also BluRay but i'm not willing to
buy into that due to high player cost))
that much better (any better?) than normal
DVD movie DTS5.1 sound?
(DTS5.1 sound is found on roughly 1/3 of
recent standard/cheap DVD movies)
