If it's from a DVD, it "should be an MPEG file (or possibly a VOB).
If you have at least version 6.0c of the full version
of Vegas (or a current version of Movie Studio), the easiest way to do
this is to go File - Import - DVD Camcorder Disc. WHile this feature
was designed for the miniDVD discs, it works just as well with full
sized discs. Depending on the size of the original disc, this may take
some time so be patient while the file(s) load.
Be advised that this will NOT work if it's a copyrighted disc as Vegas
recognizes Macrovision, etc. and will not open it.
