I talked to a customer service rep who was willing to share some
insider info with me. She told me that the reason I wasn't getting a
particular high-demand DVD was because I was getting too many DVDs per
week. She said that they allocate high-demand DVDs to those who do not
get many DVDs per week. She even recommended that I slow down my
turnover of discs so I would be placed higher in the internal queue
for high-demand DVDs. I told her that was unacceptable so she tried to
get me the DVD sooner by putting it in a bonus category for me. I
eventually did get it after a 2 month wait.
I no longer subscribe to NF. I took advantage of the BB $1 promotion
and although service is no better at least I am not paying $20 for it
- and I did get 2 instore coupons which my wife and daughter used.
There's always the Interlibrary Loan (slow but free) and Bit Torrents.
In fact if the upload problem can be worked out for cable users, then
torrents will become the de facto standard for those who want instant
service. Then you can network a player connected the TV and never
touch another DVD.
